What Do Your Values Say About You?

values

Your values are the things that you believe are important to the way you work and live your life. They are underneath every decision you make. They play a huge part in every area of your life, your family, career, business, relationships, love etc.

They determine your priorities, and deep down, you will use them to gauge if you are living the life you want to live. When the things that you do and the way you behave match your values, life feels good.

You are satisfied and feel great but when the things you do don’t align with your values, that’s when things feel bad. This can be a real source of unhappiness.

This is why making a conscious effort to identify your values is so important. Many people can tell you what is important to them, and what they value, but not always know what their core values are. So how do we find out?

Each value has a different priority of what is most important to us. Let me give you an example.

Answer These questions & See What Comes Up For You.

Either a yes or no answer is great.

1. Is it OK to go to the shops in your PJ’s?

2. Is it OK to swear in front of clients?

3. Your health MUST come first above all things.

4. I must never speak up and say what I feel to my boss.

5. It is OK to not shower every day.

6. You can’t enjoy yourself at work.

7. You must work hard to earn good money.

8. Money does not grow on trees.

9. God does not exist.

10. You are not supposed to have sex before marriage.

Whether you answered yes or no to these questions will depend entirely on your value system.

Your values come from the beliefs you hold. They are unspoken rules and regulations, terms and conditions, which subconsciously you have agreed to live by. They are mostly unconscious beliefs and they rule your life.

Many of your values were told to you by your parents and peers and you chose to believe them. Your parents believed them but does that mean you have to? These beliefs may have served your parents but do they still serve you now?

Many of these core values you now have, have been learned from the experiences you’ve had in your life. On a subconscious level you have chosen to believe these values to be true for you.

Look at the questions above, for you the answers you answered yes to are true for you, but someone else may have answered no to the same question. It means that person has different values to you, but if you look at it that way, what is the truth?

Is there a possibility that the values you hold true to you are not the ABSOLUTE TRUTH? Is there a possibility that you can look at things a different way and find some more values that fit into your life, where you are right now.

Do the old values still serve you or are they limiting you?

Take a look at the list below look at the words.
