Inspiration what does that word mean to you? What and who inspires you?

I looked up Wikipedia and it said, “Inspiration (from the Latin word inspirare, meaning “to breathe into”) refers to an unconscious burst of creativity in a literary, musical, or other artistic endeavour.

The Greeks believed that inspiration or “enthusiasm” came from the muses, as well as the gods. Similarly, in the Ancient Norse religions, inspiration derives from the gods, such as Odin.

Inspiration is also a divine matter in Hebrew poetics. In Christianity, inspiration is a gift of the Holy Spirit”.

“Romantic poets such as Coleridge and Shelley believed that inspiration came to a poet because the poet was attuned to the (divine or mystical) “winds” and because the soul of the poet was able to receive such visions.

In the early 20th century, Sigmund Freud located inspiration in the inner psyche of the artist.

Psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung’s theory of inspiration suggests that an artist is one who was attuned to racial memory, which encoded the archetypes of the human mind”.

History has given us examples of many ‘ordinary people’, just like you and me, who still inspire people all around the world. For example, Mother Teresa.

Oprah, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Richard Branson. All of them were ordinary people who decided that the world needed their help, they were true leaders who believed that they could change the world and who, despite nearly impossible odds and tremendous opposition, weren’t afraid to give it a go.

Each of them came from a background of poverty and not privilege, yet they achieved so much.

Many of us assume that a person is only great, or inspirational if he/she becomes famous. This is not true. Think about the people in your life who inspire you.

Is it your mum, dad, teacher, partner, friend? People from all walks of life can inspire us. We all have the power within us to find that strength to inspire both ourselves and others. If the people mentioned above can inspire, so can you.

For me inspiration comes both from outside of you but also from inside of you. When inspiration hits there is something inside of you that awakens.

It is like something greater than you takes over. You may get an idea from outside of you but the creativity comes from inside. Then you ‘breathe life into your idea’.

When you are inspired you can create a life you want. Your passion drives you to make this happen. It is like you are on a train going to your destination and you can sit and enjoy the ride.

Of course you have to ‘do the work’ in the first place, but when you are feeling happier, connected and inspired there is something that takes over you and things just happen.

When you are living from that place, you attract the things you want into your life, things start becoming more positive and you feel more connected. So what are some ways you can feel passion and inspiration in your life?

6 Tips On How To Invite Passion & Inspiration Back Into Your Life

  • Write A List Of Things You Love

Sit down with a pen and paper for 30 minutes or more and make a list of everything that you love. Include all of the things, people and concepts you are passionate about and interested in. Don’t judge what you write.

Do automatic writing and see what comes up for you. Automatic writing helps the subconscious mind come out to play. It has answers in there that we may not have yet thought about. Don’t limit yourself, you may surprise yourself with what comes up for you.

  • Move Your Body

When you are waiting for inspiration to ‘hit’ it is great to go for a walk, run, go dancing, do yoga, go to the gym or just move your body in a way that feels good for you.

When you are in your body you take away the stress of needing to feel inspired and it comes to you naturally without thinking about it. When you move and stretch your body, your mind will stretch too.

  • Talk About Your Dreams & Goals

Tell your friend about your goals. Describe it in as much detail as possible. How does it feel, what does it look like, are there any smells, what can you see? You can also write about your dreams or create dream a board with pictures and words that inspire you.

The more real they become to you, the more connected you are to them, the faster they will happen.

  • Do Something FUN

When you do something FUN, your mind is distracted. This gives your subconscious mind room to ‘talk to you’. It lets the creative part of you have space to create and let the passion come alive.

  • Be Original

Do things your way. Think about what feels good to YOU. What makes you HAPPY? Think about how you can do something your own way rather than copying others. Let your creativity come out to play. The more creative you play, the more creative you become.

  • Work With A Coach

If you have tried the above and still can’t work out what inspires you or makes you feel passion, you could work with a coach who is trained to get the best out of you. We can dig deeper into your subconscious mind and help you feel the passion and get inspired about your life.

Now you have found, your passion and what inspires you. GO DO IT!
