intolerable teenager

Oh those terrible teens! How do parents survive those tenuous years of back talk, dissatisfaction, acting out, mood swings, disrespect and rebellion? If you are a parent that has experienced the “terrible teens” or going through it now, then you know what I’m talking about.

So what’s causing all the emotional outbursts from our children? I believe it’s a combination of hormonal changes, peer pressures, anxiety, family issues and other life challenges. All these pressures, together with just trying to fit into society, cause an emotional pile up for our young teens today. Our children go from a need of being coddled to a want for independence, which unfortunately causes a disruption to their secure world. This anxiety and stress causes our loving and innocent teens to explode at the people they love most, their family.

when a teen is lashing out constantly, it might mean more than just an interim phase of teen tantrums. it might mean the teen is reaching out for help because he or she is simply overwhelmed with challenges in life that the teen is not prepared for. when teens become vulnerable and teachers, peers, parents and other family members make comments and remarks that are not well- received, the comments and remarks are taken quite factually and can have a profound impact on the teen’s emotions and beliefs. Sometimes comments and remarks are completely innocent and said out of frustration by a parent or other influential source.

However, if the comment is received in a negative way, it may become a negative belief to the child, who then carries this thought inside their subconscious mind until it is removed or reversed. As negative emotions are received throughout the teen years, a pile up of these emotions takes place and the subconscious is now overloaded with damaging beliefs creating loss of confidence and low self-esteem. This is not a good foundation for entering into adulthood where pressures can become more difficult. Is your teen harboring anger, fears or anxiety? If your teen is lashing out or seems discontent, I believe hypnosis can help.

With the work of hypnosis, a qualified hypnotist can reach the subconscious part of the mind, installing positive thoughts and beliefs about one-self, thereby dispelling or reversing the current negative thoughts that have been stacking up over the years. Positive thoughts create positive actions, enhance self-esteem, build confidence, create self-awareness and provide for a strong foundation for the future. The practice of hypnosis can help your teen learn how to rise above the challenges, both big and small, and to reject any unwanted beliefs that may surface out of the subconscious mind or that which may be thrown at them by external sources, preventing overload of unwanted emotions.

If our children and teens enter adulthood with burdens of past hurts and painful emotions trapped inside their minds where they will periodically surface, it will compromise their health and well-being. Health issues associated with stress and anxiety include, among other illnesses, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines, fatigue, panic attacks, sleep apnea, eating disorders and depression, some of which will lead to more serious and life threatening conditions.

The practice of hypnosis is a drug free therapy that has been around for many years. There are several studies that support the use of hypnosis for relieving stress and anxiety and helping teens cope with those formidable pressures of teen life. It has been widely documented by the most prominent psychologists that our emotional health has a tremendous impact on our physical body. The sooner one learns how to manage stress and reject negativity from outside sources, the more fulfilling one’s life will be. The person who holds confidence in oneself is the person who will prosper in life. The person who has gained self-awareness will find direction and serenity. The person who is not deeply affected by misguided beliefs is the person who will be able to teach their loved ones how to be true to self. The person who takes the steps to better themselves through the practice of hypnosis is the person who will cultivate clear and sustaining positive thoughts.

Because of stage hypnosis and fictional movies, many people are afraid of the word “hypnosis”. The practice of hypnosis is nothing more than a relaxation technique used to quiet the critical part of the mind so that positive suggestions may be implanted into the subconscious mind where one holds its memories, thoughts and beliefs. During a hypnosis session, the receiver is not asleep, but only in a relaxed state of mind so the person may receive positive information and any unwanted suggestions are automatically rejected. Hypnosis is an effective, safe and valuable tool for self-improvement.
